TO THE RESILIENT '86 CLASS OF MIGHTY DONDERO HIGH: (Written in 2006)

Well folks, it has indeed been TWENTY years since we took the proverbial path toward adulthood. And though these twenty years aren't much in geological terms, in the socio-cultural spectrum it's been one hell of a ride. Consider this: Since we left the security of our parents and the friendships of our peers at Dondero, we've seen the fall of western communism; the complete and utter double-spanking of a middle-eastern country; the impeachment of an American president for scoring in the oval office; and the election of George Bush to the White House, not once, but twice. (Actually it was only once. The first time he got in on a technicality.)

On a more personal level, well, at least we now understand our parents hysteria: The grind of work, raising children, mortgages, post-modern anxiety, credit-card debt, the challenge of relationships, more credit card debt; yup, life is wonderful. (Whatever happened to Depeche Mode?)Yet through it all we must acknowledge, at least to some degree, that even in our struggle for American contentedness we find solace in our memories of the good old days, when we were young and free and unencumbered by the pressures of modern living. The world back then was ours for the taking.

All we needed was a dream...That's where our reunion weekend comes in. We get chance to re-live, even for a brief time, our innocence, when human existence was safer, saner, or at least easier to digest. It doesn't really matter how much weight you've gained, how much hair you've lost, or if your significant other from the glory days shows up with someone looking a damn site better than you right now. What matters is getting together and sharing the days you've had since that special time when you were still a kid...What do you say?

Let's get together once again.

Join us, o.k.?
